The young but capable Deputy Chief of the Turks
Profile
Weapon: Gun
Voice Actor (JP): Junichi Suwabe
Voice Actor (ENG): Ryun Yu
The deputy chief of the Auditing Department of the General Affairs Division of Shinra Company, known as the “Turks”. He is an intelligent, quiet young man who is better at intellectual tasks than physical ones. He is normally a calm and collected person, but when he is ordered to do something nefarious, he agonizes over his mission as a Turk and his personal feelings. After working with Zack on a scouting mission in Banora, they established a mutual trust that resembles friendship.
Ten Years With Aerith
One of Tseng’s oldest assignments has been observing the Ancient, Aerith. From the time Aerith was under the age of ten, Tsung had been visiting her house to ask for her cooperation with Shinra and to watch over her so that he could be ready to take her to Shinra’s headquarters at any time. It seems that he has special sentiments about Aerith because they’ve known each other for so long, so how does he feel when he sees Aerith and Zack are quickly becoming more involved?
↑ When asked about his relationship with Aerith, Tseng simply replies, “A complicated relationship”. Incidentally, there is a camera in front of the church that looks like it belongs to him (→P.508).
“Someone has to do it.”
――Banora: When Zack finds out he is exhuming graves on a mission
“If you want to go play with Aerith, I won’t stop you.”
―― Sector 5 Slums: When Zack points out that he has been observing Aerith
→ The Turks’ missions include doing Shinra’s dirty work, and breaking taboos in general.
← Even in the coldest canyon or at the beach in summer, he never takes off his uniform. Is this another sign of his professionalism?
→ He says observing Aerith is only an assignment and watches over her without any personal feelings.

An Emotional Deputy Chief, A Level-Headed Chief
In FFVII, Tseng is the chief of the Turks, but in the Compilation, he often appears in the position of deputy chief, and his personality varies depending on his situation at the time. In CC and BC, he is actively involved in field work, and his words and actions reveal his inexperience. However, in FFVII, he never participates in battles, but rather handles his duties as a leader in a casual manner. Additionally, he stops putting his hair up [in a ponytail] just before the story of FFVII.
← Since Tsung’s position in FFVII is more important than it was in CC, he often sends his subordinates into the field and acts as as an intermediary between them and the executives.
→ In CC, BC, and LO, he puts his hair up [in a ponytail] to indicate that he is compassionate and reluctant to take on nefarious missions.
